Albany Avenue Update – August 2023

Dear Residents,

We conducted a Special Village Board Meeting dedicated to the review of the Albany Avenue preliminary design at the Palmer Engine & Hose Company Firehouse on Wednesday, August 23 rd , 2023. At this meeting, we went over the design process, the project schedule and proposed future workshop meetings. HVEA highlighted updates to option 1 preliminary design that included parking on both sides of Albany Avenue as previously presented at the June 28th workshop meeting and they identified traffic calming attributes that might be applied to this preliminary design, then – we listened to resident input, and the Village Board voted to submit the preliminary design to NYS Department of Transportation for review and approval.

It is important to note that the design that has been submitted to NYS DOT is “preliminary” and that we expect changes and compromises will be required prior to the completion of the final detailed design.

In order to keep residents engaged in this endeavor, we plan to conduct several workshop meetings in the October to December 2023 time period to discuss five (5) resident concerns, specifically; Trees and Landscaping, Speed Reduction and Bicycle Pedestrian Safety, Historic Preservation and Review Recommendations from NYS Parks Site Report, Signs and Street
Markings and finally – the Watermain Project Execution.

Project Status and Updates will continue to be reported at Village Board Meetings and minutes and updated documentation can be found on our web site at: https://www.villageofkinderhook.org/albanybike.html

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at mayor@villageofkinderhook.org.

Thank you!
Mike
